The Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMUCET) is a national-level entrance exam  conducted by the Indian Maritime University (IMU). This exam is the gateway for admissions into  undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various maritime courses such as B.Sc. Nautical  Science, B.Tech. Marine Engineering, and more. IMUCET is a critical step for students trying to build  a career in the maritime industry, whether as marine engineers or deck officers. 

Courses Offered Through IMUCET 2025 

Students who qualify for IMU CET 2025 can seek admission to the following courses at various IMU  campuses: 

1. Undergraduate Courses: 

o B.Sc. Nautical Science 

o B.Tech. Marine Engineering 

o B.Sc. Maritime Science 

o B.Sc. Shipbuilding and Repair

Eligibility Criteria for IMUCET 2025 

1. Age: 

o Minimum age: 17 years as of August 2025. 

o Maximum age: 25 years for General and OBC candidates, with a relaxation of up to 5  years for SC/ST candidates. 

2. Educational Qualification: 

o For B.Tech. Marine Engineering and B.Sc. Nautical Science: Candidates must have  passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as  subjects, securing a minimum of 60% aggregate in PCM. Additionally, a minimum of  50% in English is required in either 10th or 12th grade. 

o For Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS): Similar criteria apply for DNS, with the  requirement of passing PCM subjects and a 50% in English in either 10th or 12th.

3. Medical Fitness: 

o Candidates should meet the medical standards set by DG Shipping (Government of  India), including specific requirements for eyesight (6/6 vision in both eyes) and no  color blindness for certain courses like B.Sc. Nautical Science, DNS. 

IMU CET 2025: Exam Pattern 

The exam pattern for IMU CET 2025 is as follows: 

Mode of Exam: Centre based Online (Computer-Based Test) 

Duration: 3 hours 

Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) 

Total Number of Questions: 200 questions for UG courses

The syllabus is primarily based on the 10+2 level curriculum(11th and 12th) for Physics, Chemistry,  and Mathematics.

Physics: Mechanics, Heat, Waves, Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity,  Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction, Optics, Modern Physics. 

Chemistry: Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Thermodynamics,  Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Coordination Compounds, Environmental Chemistry. 

Mathematics: Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Probability, Vectors, Matrices, Analytical  Geometry. 

English & General Aptitude: Vocabulary, Grammar, Reading Comprehension, Logical  Reasoning, Data Interpretation,Coding-Decoding, and Basic Problem-Solving Skills.

Release of Notification: January 2025. The official notification will announce the exact date,  usually in the early part of the year. 

Start of Online Application: February 2025 

Last Date for Application: April 2025 

Availability of Admit Card: About 1-2 weeks before the exam. May 2025

IMU CET Exam Date: June 2025 

Declaration of Results: June 2025 

Counseling and Admission: July 2025
