Great Eastern Shipping Company aka GESCO is an Indian Ownership Company established in 1948. It has almost all types of vessels including bulk carrier, oil/product/gas tanker. It has its own institute named Great Eastern Institute of Maritime Studies aka GEIMS. The institute is situated in Lonavala, Maharashtra.

1. Stipend for Deck Cadet: 400$/month + overtime (avg. 150 $)

Eligibility Criteria

1. 12^th PCM % >= 60 %
2. 10^th or 12^th English % >= 50
3. Age before commencement of course <= 24
4. Valid Passport in-hand before course commencement
5. Vision Should be 6/6 without aids. Vision correction methods like Cantura Vision and LASIK is allowed.
6. Colour Blindness is not permitted. 

Note:

• If 12^th result is obtained after improvement examination, the candidate is not eligible to apply. 
• If 12^th result is obtained from NIOS Board, the candidate is not eligible to apply.

Eligibility for BSc. in Physics /Mathematic /Chemistry /Electronics with Physics.

1. Any of the above-mentioned subjects should be an individual subject in one of the three years of course
2. Average percentage not less than 60% in final year 

Eligibility for BE/B.Tech. Degree

• Average percentage not less than 50% in final year

How to apply for DNS Sponsorship program?

Great Eastern Shipping company has entitled their institutes, i.e. GEIMS’s management to manage the cadet recruitment and training. After the completion of pre-sea training, the cadet is allotted a vessel under the ownership of GESCO and also is in touch with the institute for their mentoring and distance learning program to get the degree of BSc. Applied Nautical Science. 

GESCO’s forms are open round the year and can be filled from their official website (www.geinstitute.com).
Form Fees: 750/- INR + APPLICABLE TAX 

There are two batches for which the selection procedure is conducted round the year. 

• August Batch: 80 Seats
• February Batch: 40 Seats 

A candidate can refill the form for multiple times for examination in a single batch but can appear for the interview only once. 

Selection Procedure

Once the form fee is paid, the email for the exam slot comes within a month of form filling. The email may come in spam folder and thus must be checked regularly. A slot of 30 minutes is given to join the examination and then the exam continues as per the pattern given below. If not joined within the 30 minutes of allotted time, the candidature will be cancelled. 

Note: The exam AI is very sensitive and thus a slight incongruous movement / unwanted sound / unstable internet connection gets the candidate terminated from the exam. 

Once being terminated from the exam; a candidate must fill the form again if he wants to continue in the selection procedure.
If the candidate wants to override the result, he can fill the form with same email id. (Do if terminated)
If the candidate wants to improve the results, he should fill the form with diff. email. (Do if in doubt of clearing the sectional cut off in any subject) 

The selection procedure of GEIMS comprises of two stages:

• Home Bases Online MCQ Exam Round Pattern:

Along with the above-mentioned subjects, a personality test is also conducted in the same exam which comprises 75 psychometric questions to be completed in 15 minutes.

• Physical Interview Round

The Physical round of interview is conducted in Great Eastern Institute of Maritime Studies, Lonavala.  The interview slot is confirmed 14 days before the interview date and thus tatkal ticket maybe an only option for those living far away.

The GEIMS takes interview of more than 600 candidates on an avg. per batch and selects not more than 120. Out of 120, only top 80 in August and top 40 in Feb gets sponsorship.

There is no shifting in the next batch if the candidate is in waiting list. 

Once the interview is cleared, the candidate gets mail of the same the very same day and asked to proceed for medicals the next day.
Once the medical test it done, the final merit list is out within 21 days of the last date of interview.
