IMUMATE: Empowering the Voiceless – More Than Just Content Creators

In this digital era , when someone dares to speak out , they are often labelled as “clout chasers” or accused of spreading hatred and negativity on the online platforms. This is what many say about Imumate , a platform born out of concern, courage, and an undying commitment to students in the Merchant Navy sector but those who say about imumate their identity remains suspicious or under the covers.

People say we’re just here for views and subscribers. They say we spread negativity. But when students need help, where are these voices and critics? Nowhere. All you will see is marketing, sponsorships, reels transitions and coaching ads – not the real solutions.

Today we will share the ground realities of the actions that have reached DG Shipping, IMU, and shipping companies because of the collective voice of students raised through Imumate . These are not fictional stories , these are documented, proven interventions, and every claim can be cross-verified on our YouTube channel.

1. Synergy 2024 – The Cheating Controversy Exposed

Everyone was predicting about the Dehradun Synergy DNS exam centre .There were rumours of leaked questions and cheating. But nobody spoke out. Imumate also predicted it and had the doubt, and on the exam day, as feared, questions were indeed shared in groups and screenshots were leaked .

We also took a step and exposed it in a video, and our students sent bulk emails to the  Synergy Management . What happened next? Only Dehradun centre had a re-exam.

That wasn’t just about content. That was accountability in action.

2. SISL’s Sudden Criteria Change – Students Fought Back

Last year Seven Islands Maritime Training Institute  released DNS forms with a criteria of 60% pcm in 10+2 but they suddenly increased their eligibility criteria mid-process.

Students who had applied under the earlier 60% rule were left stranded. Again, we made a video, and students took a stand by emailing the company in large numbers.

Within days, SISL rolled back the change for existing applicants and considered their application as per  previous requirements not with the changed one , keeping their promises. That was a win for transparency.

3. HIMT Refunds Justice

Some of our students got selected in HIMT BSC NAUTICAL SCIENCE programme and HIMT has a refund policy when you cancel the seat .Some students who had secured admission in HIMT BSc Nautical Science later got better options. The Institute had a refund policy, but wasn’t processing the refunds. Once again, students reached out to Imumate.A video was posted, and within two days, HIMT started processing refunds.

4. IMI DNS Girls Sponsorship Delayed

Girl cadets are promised a ₹1 lakh lower fee under sponsorship of IMU . But even after five months of joining, IMI NOIDA the fee reduction wasn’t implemented. We highlighted the injustice, and within no time, the issue was resolved just through consistent pressure and truth.

5. GEIMS DNS Exam Issues

The GEIMS DNS online exam is conducted by a third party software and it was a technical disaster. Students faced software crashes, wrongful terminations, and complete silence from the institute because they were not directly affiliated with it . Students got troubled and no one was there to listen . They had to spend money again in re-filling the form due to this and no assistance was given .

We made a video, collected evidence, and students mailed the management. The issue gained traction, and GEIMS listened . They proceeded with a survey about problems the students  faced and implementation was done .

6. SIMS Over-Recruitment

SIMS was recruiting DNS cadets in bulk, but had a backlog of 1 to 1.5 years. Cadets were stranded without ships , left waiting in home but no choice . We stepped in. A video was made, and again, students mailed the authorities.

SIMS formed a committee and reduced their batch size from 120 to 40 to prevent future delays. That’s not trolling , that’s systemic change.

So, Who Are We, Really?

We’re not here to gain fame or play the YouTube algorithm. We’re Merchant Navy professionals and aspirants just like you. Whether a student is from our coaching or not, if they message us, we respond. We’ve built a community that fights for fairness, that doesn’t get scared to ask questions, and that stands up when nobody else does.

Most of the hate we get? It comes from fake IDs, bots, or people paid to troll. They never speak from their real accounts. Why? Because truth makes people uncomfortable.

Why You Shouldn’t Stay Silent

In this industry, students often fear speaking up, thinking they might risk their careers. But the real risk is staying silent when you know something is wrong.

I, Shoaib Ali, am a Third Officer sailing today. I have raised uncomfortable questions not just to colleges, but to IMU and DG Shipping. Yes, it was tough. Yes, I faced resistance. But I never backed down. Because when you’re right, people eventually listen.

This attitude isn’t just for shore life. At sea, if you don’t speak up, you won’t survive. We’re also witnessing an alarming rise in cadet suicides, and one major reason is this toxic silence.

We need a culture where students feel heard, where they can question the system, and where they’re not treated like products in a business model.

Final Words

This is what Imumate stands for. We don’t just expose. We act. We stand with students. And we fight for what’s right ,not what’s trending.

Let the haters bark. Our work speaks louder.
