SELECTION PROCESS

Filling Out the Form

• Start by visiting the MSC India website, selecting the “MSC Cadet Selection” section,  and logging in (or registering if you’re a first-time user).

• You’ll be required to fill in basic details, including your full name, mobile  number, and a password

• The system will prompt you for an OTP verification.

• After completing the registration, select your course: DNS or B.Tech. • Fill in your personal details (father’s and mother’s names, date of birth, etc.). • Provide alternate contact details and your address, as required. • Choose the exam date and preferred test center for your online test.

After successfully submitting the form, you’ll be directed to upload a photograph and  signature. Be sure to double-check all details before making the payment (Rs. 1,000 for

the application fee). Once the payment is confirmed, your form will be successfully  submitted.

Post-Test Process: Interviews and Medicals

After clearing the test, MSC will call eligible candidates for an interview. Interviews are  conducted at various major cities in India, such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, LucknowPatna, Chennai, and Kochi. This makes it convenient for students from all regions of  India to attend without traveling too far.

After passing the interview, you’ll be required to undergo a medical examination, which  costs around Rs. 5,000 to 6,000

Upon clearing the medical test, Successful candidates will be asked to pay a security  deposit of Rs. 15,000, which will later be refunded. After that their journey with MSC will  begin.

The key interview questions often focus on technical knowledge, especially subjects  covered in 10th and 12th grade, such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.  Candidates should focus on strengthening their understanding of these basics, as MSC places  significant emphasis on this knowledge.

Important Factors:

• Candidates with sports certificates, NCC experience, or army background are  given extra consideration during the interview.

• Although some students speculate that references can help, 99% of candidates are  selected purely on merit.

• While many companies set high academic standards, MSC focuses not only on marks  but also on the candidate’s practical knowledge and ability to handle the challenges of  life at sea.

Test Structure and Tips

The MSC test is an online, home-based exam that consists of 50 questions from PCM  (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), English, and aptitude. The test is conducted  online and will be invigilated remotely. Here’s what you need to know about the test:

Passing Marks: According to sources, a score of 45 marks or above out of 50 is  considered a good score to pass the test. Some students reported even scoring full  marks, but generally, 40-42 marks are considered the cutoff.

Format: The test is said to be easy, with basic PCM and aptitude questions, so with  consistent preparation, achieving a high score is very possible.

Once the test is passed, candidates are invited for an interview

(Note– Make sure your camera is on during the test)

What Happens After Selection?

Once selected, students are enrolled at IMI (International Maritime Institute) or the  College of Maritime Studies under the Indian Maritime University in Odisha. Last year,

MSC selected around 100 students, with 80 going to IMI and the remainder to other  institutions.
